Kristi L. Schoepfer, J.D. is a Professor of Sport Law and Sport Management at Winthrop University. Prior to joining the faculty at Winthrop, Prof. Schoepfer was an Assistant Professor of Sport Law for five years at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, WI. Currently, Prof. Schoepfer teaches Risk Management in Sport, Sport Law, Sport Ethics and Governance, and Introduction to Sport Management.
In addition to her teaching at Winthrop University, Prof. Schoepfer is a member of the Board of Advisors for the National Sport Law Institute, Executive Director of the Sport and Recreation Lawyers Association, an author in three of the leading Sport Law text books, as well as a national presenter on sport law issues. For her accomplishments in teaching, research and service, Dr. Schoepfer was awarded the 2009 Marquette University Law School Charles W. Mentkowski Sport Law Alumna of the Year award and the 2016 Sport and Recreation Law Association Herb Appenzeller Honor Award.
